Is It Grapes?

Remember that character in Sideways who left her old life and went up to northern California and picked grapes after her divorce? And then discovered her love of wine and went back to college to study agriculture, which would allow her to learn more about grapes and wine?

I really liked that character. She seemed very grounded.

Hi La Misma. Sorry never saw the movie, although I did read "The Grapes of Wrath," which involves people moving to California to pick fruit, and the word "grapes." So it's really almost the same story. :)

Ha ha! Yes, they are very similar. I should take on the life of the Joads.

You should see Sideways, seriously. It's very funny, and in places it has a bacchanalian spirit that feels like a French movie rather than an American one.

Thanks for writing. (:

Is the study of grapes called something like viniculture or is that the actual growing of grapes or does the word not even exist. I could look it up before posting but I am too hot to do that. I was at Ogilvy yesterday. And frankly I was too hot to do that too. Saw AB; sorry I missed you.

Sorry I missed you too. I've been thinking about you -- welcome back to TH! Hope things are ok. It is very hot... viniculture could exist, but I'm also too hot to check.

But for a whole new life, do you want to go to Northern California and pick grapes with me? We could get close to the earth again, and see our way clear to a happy future. It would do wonders for your sense of inflexibility!

Only partly kidding,

La Misma
