Was not able to post great David Berman interview
because Blogger said my link was broken.
I had followed those old instructions from beckett very carefully. This is maddening. But if you want to read a great David Berman interview, go to pitchforkmedia.com where it's still on the site.
I've been neglecting this blog. Haven't I learned anything? Yes -- on the plane home from England I saw a "fun fact" on my Virgin "forget you're gonna die" reel that plays on the broadcast system as you're about to land. It was this thing about Johannesburg's altitude and how it takes an extra minute to boil an egg there. I filed it away mentally for my readers.
But I wonder if tidbits and ephemera are what really interest people these days. Isn't the global situation too perilous?
Maybe I've become excessively paranoid, but isn't there something terrifying about the U.S. telling Russia what to do militarily? Could it not spark the resumption of hostilities?
Is Bush going to restart the Cold War just before he leaves office? Kind of an afterthought, a souvenir of his glorious reign?
Shudder.
